17 out of 50

Haven't done any Thirsty's lately since I wasn't getting feedback on them.
Today was a youTube kind of day...well...at least it turned into one.

I went through Andy Langer's 50 songs you should hear from 2011 (May) since he has recommended some good stuff in the past (always thankful to him for Ray LaMontagne)
and youTube is the best way to hear stuff so I made a play list of the stuff I liked.

I've never shared a play list before, but it looks like they will just play in order? There are 17 songs.
You can also go to Esquire's page and listen to all the songs from the list and also a video of Heather Morris from Glee dancing to 5 of them.

Happy New Year - Thirty for Thursday Volume 16

back for 2012 and I'm already almost missing my Thursday deadline...jeez....
It's here though, thankfully I started this on Monday and just finished now while getting ideas on the way home.

So this one started because I realized how the intros of the first 2 songs sounded remarkably alike. I haven't shared much Hawaiian stuff so far since I wasn't sure if some of my newer friends would dig it, but it seems right this week...mostly because Frank Orrall shared a Penguin Cafe Orchestra song and I found another one on the album that I dug. I kept the ukulele thing for a minute, but then didn't want to kill you with it.

Here's the player

and you can download it here (right click)

1. Paul Simon - Loves Me Like A Rock
2. The Brothers Cazimero - Ho'okipa Hawaii
3. Penguin Cafe Orchestra - The Ecstacy of the Dancing Fleas
4. Ingrid Michaelson - Be O.K. (more ukulele and she is just so damned sexy)
5. Ka'au Crater Boys - Noho Pai Pai (you can't say ukulele and not have the boys on here...LOVE this jam)
6. Smokey Robinson & Darryl Hall - Being With You (live from Darryl's house) - thanks to XL for recommending this show
7. Coldplay & The Buena Vista Social Club - Clocks
8. Cesaria Evora - Isolada (so sad to hear of her passing)

Thirty For Thursday Volume 14 for Xmas

Don't worry it's not ALL Christmas songs...

Actually, a special shout goes to Summer Abbott for partial inspiration for this week's selections. She introduced me to Allen Stone this week. I wanted to add a few other singer-songwriter types in there and then supplemented with a few Christmas songs that you might not have heard.

or you can download here (right click)

Tracks for the week:

1. Christmas Tonight - Dave Barnes & Hillary Scott
2. Feels Like Dancing - Dan Dyer
3. Dance With Me Baby - Ben Rector
4. Santa Claus is Back In Town - Elvis Presley & Wynonna Judd
5. Joy To The World - Andrew Ripp
6. Celebrate Tonight - Allen Stone
7. Rock The Bells (Holiday Mix) - Dj Spen & The Muthafunkaz
8. 2People (DCUP Remix) - Jean Jacques Smoothie ft Tara Busch

FYI

If (by some chance) someone new finds this...

Thirty for Thursday is something I came up with for friends that were interested in what I have been listening to. 30 minutes of music (more or less) that I put together every Thursday. It's one long track (kind of like a podcast, I guess) since the first playlist that I tried to share, seemed too complicated for some folks. 30 minutes is about 2/3 of my drive to work and when I think of where my friends live, it's just about right for them as well.

I don't know who downloads these or who listens, but I don't have a set plan every week. Some times a theme, others not. Most times I put similar sounding songs together which is a product of years of djing and trying to keep a "flow" going on the dance floor.

I have mostly kept the extremes of my musical taste off of here (no Slayer yet) just since, like I said, I don't know who is checking this out.

leave a comment if you find this and enjoy. =)

Aloha
Sean
