The September Playlist

Here is the play list for September that I created. 19 songs for the month of 9/10. The password is passean

Yves showed me how to do this, and this is my first try, so bear with me if it doesn't work correctly.

There are 19 songs. Unzip the folder and you'll find that there's an .xml file in there along with the mp3s. Import the mp3s into iTunes and then go to

File > Library > Import Playlist

and select the .xml and you'll get a new playlist of the songs in the order in which I compiled them. There is also a picture for cover art if you are so inclined.

I coded everything at a measly 128kps because a bunch of these things can be downloaded free from the creators or purchased cheaply elsewhere. If you REALLY need something, let me know and I can figure out how to get it to you.

1. I heard this all over the radio last month and dug it every time. Buy it at Amazon

2. Thanks to Soul-sides for reminding me how much I dig this song. Purchased at eMusic

3. A dope intro to a great song. Get it at Soundcloud

4. Bouncy and fun - Get it from the source on Soundcloud for free

5. Cannot tell you how long I looked for this. So stoked that I was actually able to buy this (props to the remixer) from here.

6. The thing I like about following people on Soundcloud is finding cool stuff from their comments. Dimitri from Paris led me here.

7. Stolen from Soundcloud since it's so damned catchy

8. I've been digging some of the Scott Wozniak remixes I've heard since I heard his Kem remixes. Stumbled across his blog and saw that he was giving away a set of 30 of his remixes for free. Get this song and 29 others here.

9. Felix will help me out with a track if I really dig something he's playing at Beviamo. With that being said, I can't verify that the remix credit on this is correct since I can't find a link to it anywhere.

10. I couldn't post all the Prince stuff I've been finding on Soundcloud. Most of it is not available for direct d/l, but this one is.

11. Another shout-out to Soul-Sides for this one. Found a better quality mp3 at eMusic.

12. Heard this in a movie that Gyps was watching and loved it. Never knew it was the original version. Purchased at eMusic.

13. Saw Repo Men and didn't like it as much as I thought I would, but the soundtrack had some great stuff on it. The RZA as the troubled songwriter/artist brings this song to life in the movie and it's just so damned soulful. Had to buy the whole album at eMusic, but found more than a few dope tracks on it for about $6.

14. Compiled an 80's metal CD for a friend at work and rediscovered this version of a classic rock favorite. I have this version on a compilation CD from years ago, but the band redid it on their Anthology a few years ago.

15. The only iTunes track on here...I hope the mp3 rip works. Love this guy's first album and have seen him live 3 times so far. This song was written about his mom and was one of the teaser tracks released before the album came out. Find it on iTunes.

16. I think this is the 3rd time I've paid a record company for this song. Probably had a tape at some point, then bought the 4-CD boxed set when it came out (what happened to that thing?) and now, a best-of on mp3 from eMusic since I had the credits.

17. I read some reviews of the album (mostly raving) and checked it out, only to find that I didn't care for too much of it. Like this though. Most stuff on eMusic works out to roughly 50 cents a track so why not.

18. Another album getting rave reviews that I'm not feeling all that much. This might sound out-of-place on the play list, but it represents some other stuff like this that I will pick out of albums that otherwise don't interest me. One of the many reasons that I love this MP3 culture (despite the death of "albums" being saddening)

19. Finally (damn this took a while to do) is a song that makes me smile and bounce around in my chair every time I hear it. I grabbed 5 songs off this album and this is by far the liveliest of them. It sounds like a Jerry Lee Lewis cut. So sorry to hear that he checked himself into rehab just before kicking off his tour (would love to see him live) but I guess it's for the best for him. Hope he comes out the other side alright.
